Overview
You can attend a Zoom event in multiple ways. The most common options include attending through an email or calendar invite, from a web browser, from the Zoom desktop and mobile application, or from a phone. Zoom meetings are set up to be interactive where all attendees can control the Zoom tools (such as microphones, video cameras, etc.) while Zoom webinars are designed for attendees to listen to those presenting, reducing the risk of disruption. Note there are options to join a Zoom event even without a Zoom account.

You can join a test meeting to familiarize yourself with using Zoom.

Depending on how you join the meeting, you may need to identify the meeting ID, which is a unique 9, 10, or 11-digit number for the Zoom meeting provided by the meeting organizer.

Join a meeting in a web browser without using a Zoom account
1. Click the meeting invite link you received from the meeting host – in your email message or calendar invitation.
2. A pop-up window will prompt you to open or download the application. In the pop-up window, click Cancel.
3. At the bottom of the page, click Join From Your Browser link.
4. In the pop-up window in the top left corner of the screen, click Allow to allow Zoom permission for your microphone and camera.
5. Enter a Display Name.
6. Click Join.
7. If this is a meeting, you can select if you would like to connect audio and/or video. If a webinar, your microphone and camera will be muted.
Join on the Zoom desktop
1. Go to zoom.us/download and download the Zoom app appropriate for your operating system.
2. Open the app.
3. Join a meeting using one of these methods:
- If you want to join a meeting without signing in, click Join a Meeting.
- If you want to join a meeting by signing in first:
- Sign into the app.
- Click the Home tab.
- Click Join.

4. Enter the meeting ID. (This is a unique 9, 10, or 11-digit number for this Zoom meeting.)
5. If you are signed into your account, your account name will appear as the Display Name by default. If you are not signed in, enter a Display Name.
6. If this is a meeting, you can select if you would like to connect audio and/or video. If a webinar, your microphone and camera will be muted.
7. Click Join.
Join on the Zoom mobile app
1. Go to your device’s app store and download the Zoom app.
2. Open the app.
3. Join a meeting using one of these methods:
- If you want to join a meeting without signing in, tap Join a Meeting.
- If you want to join a meeting by signing in first:
- Sign into the app.
- Tap Join.

4. Enter the meeting ID. (This is a unique 9, 10, or 11-digit number for this Zoom meeting.)
5. If you are signed into your account, your account name will appear as the Display Name by default. If you are not signed in, enter a Display Name.
6. If this is a meeting, you can select if you would like to connect audio and/or video. If a webinar, your microphone and camera will be muted.
7. Tap Join.
Join on your telephone (no video option)
1. On your phone, dial the teleconferencing number provided in your meeting invitation. You may have several to choose from in the “Dial by your location” section; choose one of them.
2. Enter the meeting ID number when prompted using your dial pad.
Note: If you already joined the meeting by computer, you will have the option to enter your 6-digit participant ID (passcode) to be associated with your computer. If you have not joined on your computer, press # again when prompted to enter your participant ID (passcode).

3. You will join the meeting via audio options. Make sure your mute your phone as appropriate.
