Overview
If your F&M email does not open when you click on a “mail to” link that you find online, follow these directions to update your browser settings. This document provides instructions for setting the default behavior for such links across the most common web browsers.

Chrome
To update the settings for handling mail in Chrome:
- Open the Chrome browser
- Click More icon (3 vertical dots in the upper right corner of the browser window)

- Go to Settings
- In the search bar, type Site Settings, then click on that option
- Scroll down to the Permissions area,
- Click Additional Permissions
- Click Protocol Handlers
- Make sure Sites can ask to handle protocols is selected
- Delete Outlook or any other mail handlers from the email section at the bottom.
- If mail.google.com is already there, click the dots next to it and set it as the default.
- If Gmail is NOT there, delete anything else in that “email” section, then open a tab of Gmail
- In the URL bar, you should see an icon that looks like the picture to the right.
- Click the icon, and select Allow for Allow mail.google to open links
FireFox
To update the settings for handling mail in Firefox:
- Click the More icon (3 bars in the upper right corner of the browser window)
- Click Settings
- In the search bar, type mailto
- Under the content, type mailto, change the action to Use Gmail
Microsoft Edge
This is no longer the same as Chrome. Searched online and could not find instructions. There seems to no longer be a protocol handler within settings.
Safari
