Overview
Matlab, developed by MathWorks, is a multi-paradigm numerical computing environment and programming language used for numeric computation, data analysis, visualization, and application development. Franklin & Marshall College provides a campus-wide license that includes MATLAB, Simulink, and various companion toolboxes.
Before you get started
- Students are permitted to install the software on their personal home or laptop computers.
- You must use your F&M email address when creating your MathWorks account.
- The service is integrated with F&M’s Single Sign-On (SSO) and requires your NetID and password.

How to
Follow these steps to set up your account and choose your preferred method of using MATLAB.
Accessing the MATLAB Portal

Navigate to the Franklin & Marshall MATLAB Portal.

Sign in using your F&M credentials via the Single Sign-On service.

Once authenticated, click Get Started. Note: If you already have an existing Matlab account associated with your F&M email, the system should sign you in automatically.
Installing MATLAB or Using Online

After logging into the portal, look at the top of the page for available access options.

To use the software in a web browser without any local installation, click Open Matlab Online.

To download the software to your computer, click Install Matlab to navigate to the desktop software selection page.

For mobile use, you can access MATLAB via the app on iPhone, iPad, or Android devices to evaluate commands and view results.
Accessing Training and Support

If you are new to the software, locate the LEARN section on the left side of the MATLAB Portal page.

Click Online Training to access the 2-hour MATLAB Onramp tutorial.

If you encounter technical issues during installation, return to the MATLAB Portal and click Contact Mathworks Support.
Important Notes

Account Requirements: Always use your official F&M email address to ensure your account links correctly to the campus-wide license.

No Manual Configuration: MATLAB Online allows you to work immediately without managing or configuring software locally.
