Body
Overview
This article provides instructions for Franklin & Marshall faculty and staff on how to quickly identify their assigned extension or phone number directly from their Avaya desk phone.
Before you get started
- These instructions apply specifically to Avaya J-Series IP desk phones (e.g., J139, J159, J179) located in F&M offices.
- Ensure your phone is plugged in and the display is active.
How to
Follow these steps to access your personal identification information via the phone's built-in menu.
- Locate the round navigation cluster in the center of the phone.
- Press the OK button, which is the circular button located in the center of the navigation pad.
- Your phone number or 4-digit extension will be displayed on the screen, typically located next to your User Name.
Note: If your name does not appear after pressing the button, contact the ITS Help Desk to ensure your profile is correctly provisioned to the device.
Important Notes
- External Dialing: Remember that when giving your number to someone outside the College, you must include the full 717-358-XXXX format.
- Privacy: Your name and extension are visible to anyone with physical access to the device; always log out if you are using a shared "hoteling" workstation.
- Troubleshooting: If the display is blank or shows No Service, check the Ethernet connection at the back of the phone before attempting a lookup.
