Overview
At F&M, all students, faculty, and professional staff have a Google account that includes collaboration and productivity tools that keep you connected and allow you to work together more efficiently.
IT Topics Explained
Accessing Applications
Applications include Gmail, Calendar, Meet, Chat, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, Sites, and more.
To access any of these applications, go to www.google.com and click Sign In in the top right-hand corner. If you are already signed in, you will see your personalized icon in the top right-hand corner instead. As long as you are signed in, you can access any of the Google apps from the waffle menu next to your personalized icon. Just click the waffle menu, and choose any Google application you need.
The Google Waffle Menu is noted below:

Your Google Account
Students
Students have access to these applications while they are a student and for one year after graduation. Any files, email, photos, etc. that are in the account will be deleted one year after graduation. For this reason, we highly encourage students to have a system set up to transfer files from their Google account to a personal account. Consider cleaning up your files after a semester and transferring final versions of papers and project files to your computer or an on-line storage solution.
Also keep in mind that this email address should not be linked to anything you want to continue on after you graduate. We highly recommend you do not link on-line services to this email account (i.e. do not use your F&M Gmail for your on-line banking statements or as a verification method for gaming, shopping, etc.)
Faculty and Professional Staff
Like students, Faculty and Professional Staff have access to all applications in the Google Workspace while they are employed with the College. The account should be used only for work-related business.
Please use your personal email and online services for anything that is not work-related. The account is deleted when you are not longer employed by the College, so you will not have access to your files. There are some exceptions to this for faculty, so please open a ticket if you have a question about services that are available after you leave the College.
