Overview
When you graduate from F&M College, access to computing resources change. This document attempts to answer many of the questions you may have regarding the technology-related resources available for Franklin & Marshall College graduates. General questions about other services available to alumni should be directed to the Office of College Advancement.
This document is intended for soon-to-be alumni and alumni
Here is what changes
F&M Google Account
Alumni keep their accounts for 12 months following their graduation. After 12 months, your F&M account and all data in the account will be deleted. This data is not recoverable.
F&M Net ID
Your F&M NetID will remain active until mid-summer of the year you graduate, but you won't need it.
F&M ID Card Access
Student ID cards are printed with an expiration date and access will end when you leave F&M.
Canvas
Files you had in Canvas become inaccessible June 30th of the year you graduate.
Transcripts
If you need a transcript please visit the Transcript Requests web page: https://www.fandm.edu/registrar/managing-credits/transcript-requests. An active NetID or F&M email account is not needed to request a transcript.
W-2 and other tax documents
If you were employed by the College during the last 12 months, you should update your mailing address (located under MyInfo) in Experience BEFORE access is removed. This will ensure that your end-of-year W-2, or any other payroll-related documents that need to be sent to you after you graduate, can be mailed to you.
Direct Deposit/Bank Information
If you had direct deposit set up to receive payments from the College, we recommend you leave your bank account open for at least three months as you may be subject to final reimbursements, prizes, awards, and/or account refunds. If you are closing your bank account on file, please email Payroll@fandm.edu to let them know to update your records. Once a bank account is closed, any future payments would then be issued in the form of a check by the College and sent to your permanent address that is on file. As mentioned above, please verify that your permanent address information is correct.
VPN Service
Access to F&M’s VPN service will end. This includes your Duo Security account if you had used the VPN service.
Software
Software you used as a student does not transfer to you automatically -- many companies provide discounts to recent graduates if you need to continue using a particular software program. You would need to take steps to subscribe to that software using your personal account.
Computers
You can no longer log on to computers in our public spaces. However, a small number of computers are available in the libraries for your use.
Printing Services
Access to printing services goes away.
Wi-Fi Service
Personal computers and devices you have registered on the F&M network are de-registered. When you visit campus, you can use our Guest WiFi Service
Library Services
Access to library resources change, see https://library.fandm.edu/policies for details.
Campus Alert Notifications
You will be removed from the College's emergency notification services mid-summer of the year you graduate.
