Overview
We support all aspects of technology solutions that are provided in the classrooms and meeting spaces at Franklin & Marshall College. Working with faculty, staff, and vendors, we advise, plan, deliver, and support the technology solutions in these spaces.
ITS supports numerous technology-enhanced spaces on campus that are used for classroom instruction, meetings, or hosting special events. These spaces are set-up in a variety of configurations and typically include computers, audio-video equipment, projectors, and screens.
This document is intended for Employees, Students, Visitors, Retired Researching Faculty, and Visitors.
Before you get started
Classrooms
Technology-enhanced classrooms are managed by ITS and include classrooms in all academic buildings. The technology in classrooms will vary, but will primarily feature either a computer at a podium or a cable for connecting a laptop to room resources.
- Documentation on using the equipment in classrooms is available on our Audio Visual Support website.
- Each classroom includes a physical copy of the documentation for use, typically at the podium or near equipment.
Meeting Spaces
Meeting rooms, such as conference rooms, seminar rooms, or large auditoriums, may also contain technology provided by ITS. If you wish to use one of these spaces, reservations MUST be made through the College Reservation System.
Equipment
Most rooms are well-equipped with built-in projectors, screens, and computer equipment. Some rooms are also equipped with a Built-in Vaddio Video-Conference System which provides microphones, speakers, and a camera that can pan, tilt and zoom.
Portable Technology
In addition, portable devices may also be used to temporarily make a room tech-enabled. Two popular cameras in use are the Logitech Rally Plus Camera and the Meeting Owl Pro Camera.
Borrowing Audio-Video Equipment
Equipment, of all types, can be borrowed through our Technology Equipment Lending Program. The location and hours of the Technology Lending Center are available on ITS website.
Training Resources
Training on the use of the technology in these spaces is recommended prior to use and can be arranged by contacting a Learning & Events Technology Specialist at 717-358-4467.
Important Notes
If you are planning an event or a class in a room you've never used:
- Check out the room in advance
- Review the ITS TechDoc for that room, either in the room itself or online at the Audio Visual Support website.
- Do a practice run with the computer you plan to use on the day of your event/meeting/class
